I guess I'm surprised at the large percentage of people (63%) who think cloning animals is morally wrong. I'd like to hear specific justifications for that view. (Gallup)

Support for Same-Sex Marriage

Is increasing. I find it particularly heartening that 1/4 of conservatives & almost 1/3 of Republicans are in favor of legalizing. I think that although those numbers are still far from over 50%, they are higher than you'd expect from the public discourse.

The country still hates Republicans.

Alabama = Iran & Zimbabwe?

Somebody compared international and national Gallup polls asking the question, "Is religion an important part of your daily life?" Based on the percentage of respondents saying "yes," Alabamians are on par with Zimbabweans and Iranians (maybe we should change Arab, AL to Persia, AL), with around 82% of respondents saying yes. Those heathen-y New Englanders (Vermont!) look like Switzerland and Canada (around 43% saying yes). As a comparison, the world-wide median is 82%.
